Humble Beginnings...
Keystone ISS Inc. grew from the culmination of several life long hobbies in which grew beyond our founder, Jeffrey M. Coney's home office in 1998 to a serious endeavor and was incorporated in 2002.
This basement office grew by leaps and bounds starting in 1990. This is how his home office looked in 1998. Jeff ran this operation by himself on a part time basis in the 90's. Since then moved he's moved to a new home and location and our business on to a larger, more professional setting. Unfortunately, for security reasons we no longer publish interior photos of our current office/work spaces.
Jeff's Desk
The main workstation/PC
If pictures could speak a thousand words then what would these say? Some might say geek! But we say professional, organized and ready to do business!
This second desk and PC were added for web surfing, data collection and scanning documents/photos.
Storage for over 350 CDs. Note the large hard drive with the clear cover in the lower right corner. Jeff pulled it out of an old GE Mark-Link Mainframe which was being decommissioned.
Floppy Disk Storage... At the time this photo was taken there were approximately 1200 3.5 " and 250 5.25" Disks!
A Large format (11x17") Canon, an HP4Plus and an Epson 870esq Dot Matrix handled all the printing with ease.
Efficient and well laid out space with a real purpose and ease of use in mind. Professionally, Jeff worked for General Electric Information Services at the time.
Whiteboard and Drafting Table... yes physical - mechanical drafting, CAD was used for many jobs.
Reference works and hard copy storage.
More file and utility cabinets!
At it's peak, Jeff added another 19" equipment rack and had a total of 17 machines running including two desktop PCs and a Laptop!
These photos were taken just before the last expansion of the network. The equipment bays are shown below, complete with full patch panels, Cisco 2501 and 4700 series routers, Remote boot, remote printing, dial-up/DSU's, A pair of Serv-Switches, a dedicated terminal, telephone call router, voice mail system, 5 servers (Tower Cases), 4 Rack-mount multi-processor servers running, DOS 6.2, Solaris, Linux and Windows. All servers had redundant capabilities and swapable Hard Drives, as well as,CDR/CDRW and tape back-up capabilities at the time.
Neat and structured wiring. Everything was properly grounded, labeled and tied.
Manuals and physical documents "waiting to be scanned"!
Electronics workshop and part storage.
UPS power, diverse connectivity methods as well as spare equipment, parts and supplies at the ready to insure continued operation. There was no wasted space, that's for sure.
Small parts storage.
Electronics workbench for testing and prototyping components and building PCs. In his spare time, Jeff also built or upgraded over 240 PCs in this office for friends, family and co-workers, most were done at cost...
Did we mention the fact that Jeff is somewhat of a neatnik? These photos show the way the office usually looked... A trait he has not lost.
Even as this home office grew in size and complexity, it was without a doubt one of the nicest, most professional looking home offices around... but that's just our opinion!
